Everest Base Camp is undoubtedly one of the most eminent trekking destination in the world. This is a great opportunity for adventure lovers to be at the foot of the Mount Everest. Trekking to this route also provide us an extreme opportunity to embark on heroic journey that Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary set off to in 1953. Trek begins from Kathmandu airport taking short 35 minutes’ scenic flight on twin otter aircraft landing at a thrilling airstrip in Lukla (2860m), also known Tenzing-Hillary airport.

The trekking path leads along the beautiful Dudh Koshi, Imjastse river and climb up to the Namche Bazar. The route takes you through alluring Sherpa villages includes Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche and Lobuche.  The old artistic colorful Tibetan Buddhist monastery (including Tengboche) and the eye-catching mountain views act as the mediator between the nature and culture. Today, we follow the Dudh Kosi, ascending through Himalayan pine and Deodar cedar forests, to the celebrated village of Namche Bazaar. Namche bazaar is a historic trading post where Nepalese and Tibetan traders exchange salt, dried meat and textiles. Besides being a superb place to shop for traditional crafts, Namche remains the central trading post in the Khumbu, attracting Himalayan and lowland merchants. We will spend two days in Namche for acclimatization and visit local markets. On the hike we capture our first glimpses of Everest and neighboring peaks. Today is reserved for acclimatization and a very slow ascent into thin Air. After breakfast we will start the ascent towards Khumjung. The trail ascends above Namche Bazar and passes through Syangboche (3,720 m) where the local airstrip is located. From a hill top above the airport, you will get your first views of Tangboche Peak, Lhotse peak and Ama Dablam. On arrival at Khumjung (3,780 m), you could visit the Tenjing Hilary school before stopping for lunch at one of the tea houses. This would be your second acclimatization day that requires about 6 hours of trekking to an altitude of 5100 meters. After breakfast we ascend Nagerjun (5,100 m), a hill located on the flanks of the Chhukung valley directly above Dingboche. The main aim is to climb high and sleep low. The foot path becomes steep at times; resulting in a physically challenging day- ascending the hill could take up to 5 hours at altitude. From this altitude there are good views of Lobuche East (6,119 m), Lobuche west (6,145 m), Tangoche Peak (6,367 m), Thamserku (6,608 m), Kangtega (6,685 m) and Ama Dablam (6,856 m). On a clear day you could even see Makalu, the world's fifth highest mountian, including great views of the Pheriche valley. After a short rest we will start the descent back to Dingboche - the walk at altitude takes about 2 hours. After lunch you should take a well deserved rest, afternoon temperatures could drop rapidly as the sun sets over the mountain tops. We will spend a second night in Dingboche. There is not much elevation gain, but there are a lot of ups and downs, combined with altitude, this can be a tiring portion- but the journey is worth it.
