Dolpo land of the isolated
Upper Dolpo is a renowned trekking trail lies in the western Himalaya of Nepal, is famous for rare found animals, tranquil lake and the beauty of hidden treasures. Upper Dolpo is newly opened trekking trail in Nepal because until the 1989 tourists were not allowed to enter this region. The trekking trail passes through Phoksundo National Park, attractive local villages, ancient monastery and peaceful Phoksundo lake. Magnificent mountains views and barren landscapes provides the remarkable impression of the trek. This trek provide opportunity to experience natural beauties, unique culture, tradition and lifestyle of locals. Peoples of this area were highly influenced by culture and daily lifestyle of Tibetan.
The trekking trail begins from Jhupal after 35 minutes’ scenic flight from Nepalgunj and passes along with the gurgling river, lush forest, ancient monasteries reaching tranquil Shey Phoksundo lake. Trail passes through Nagdala La (5,350m) to reach monastery of Shey Gompa. This is the region where the Oscar nominated movie “Caravan” and “Himalaya” was shoot. We also cross a Sela La (5,095m) and Jyanta La (5,220m) pass to reach the lower Dolpo.
