Mardi Himal Trekking

Mardi Himal Trek is a short, amazing and newly opened trail in the Annapurna region. It is relatively less crowded trek that offers incredible views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain ranges. The route opened in early 2012 but now very popular trekking trail in western Annapurna region which located east of Modi Khola across the valley from Hiunchuli. After one and half hour of drive from Pokhara, trek starts from Phedi and trek to Deurali  and continues to Forest camp, Low camp, High camp, Sidhing village, Lumre and back to Pokhara. High Camp is the highest point of this trek at elevation of 4,500 meters from sea level, here enjoying the majestic mountain views and incredible landscapes.

 

The path goes through the magical rhododendron forest, terrace farms, interesting villages, dazzling river and  stunning views of Dhaulagiri 8167m, Annapurna I 8091m, Annapurna II 7937m, Annapurna III 7555m, Annapurna South 7219m, Machhapuchre 6988m and Hiunchuli 6441m mountain ranges. During the treks we stay in basic teahouses, enjoy typical local food and experience lifestyle of local people.

Itinerary

Himalayan Excursion Nepal representative will be there to pick up from the airport in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. After a short rest, In the evening, we have Nepalese cuisine at a welcome dinner hosted by Himalayan Excursion Nepal. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley with our professional tour guide (Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Patan durbar square, Basantapur durbar square, Bhaktapur durbar square) and after sightseeing remaining time you can do shopping & preparation for your trekking. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

You can enjoy 25 minutes scenic flight or you can enjoy the beautifully terraced farms, little shops by the side of the road and the raging Trisuli River on your drive to Pokhara. You can get great views of the Himalayas including Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Fishtail and five peaks of Annapurna. Pokhara is also a tourist destination like Thamel, so we take sometime out in the evening and enjoy overnight in Pokhara. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

After an early morning breakfast, we start our adventure with a drive to Phedi and start our trekking from there. We walk on stone steps, terraced fields and through villages and forests before reaching Dhampus where we have lunch. We continue our walk to Deurali which is a small village beautifully located on a ridge with good views of the Annapurna south, Mardi himal and Fishtail. Our trail passes through lush forest dotted with the red rhododendrons. The flowers are a common sight in Nepalese hills and it is no surprise that its Nepal's national flower. Our trekking trail is very quiet until we reach a clearing of the forest camp. We can take rest and explore the area which is also known locally as Kokar. We continue to walk through dense forests admiring Nepal's rich biodiversity and reach the low camp. From here, the fantastic view of Mt. Fishtail up the valley is mesmerizing. We can spend sometime in the evening observing the local lifestyle. Overnight at guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

We trek uphill alongside a ridge towards Mardi Himal and Fishtail. The trees lines start getting thinner and the area mostly consist of shrubs with isolated Rhododendron bushes along the trail. If lucky, we might even come across the Daphne pheasant (National bird of Nepal) on our way to high camp. We ascend up to the high camp, which is the final destination of the day. From here we can see stunning mountain views. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

We take a different route in high camp that takes us to Sidhing instead of going back down to Mardi Himal. The different route lets us experience something different and makes our trek exciting. siddhing offers a quiet stay for trekkers as it is tucked away from the busier trails. After an early breakfast, We hike towards Lumre finally reaching the road from where we begin our drive to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Today, after early morning you will transfer to airport or drive for Kathmandu. Witnessing the rural landscapes dominated by lush vegetation and rushing rivers is full of fun throughout the drive. The rural culture is also a fascinating reward for the ride; around 200 kilometers of drive that takes around 6-7 hours will finally bring you to Kathmandu. On your arrival you will transferred to your related hotel. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Our representative will drop you at the airport for your final depature. We are sure that you will be inspired to visit Nepal again after this trek.

Mardi Himal trek is suitable for any kind of person who is moderately fit, no previous experience is required. To condition yourself for the trek, some physical fitness programs such as walking, running, swimming and hiking are recommended before you embark on your journey. Any person suffering from a pre-existing medical condition or diseases must seek medical advice before considering any trek.

Yes, our company representative will be there to greet you. He will be displaying your name outside the airport terminal. You will be transferred to your hotel by our private vehicle.

Best season for trekking is usually March-April and October-November but Mardi Himal trek can be done in February, June, April, May and December as well.

Weather in the mountains is very difficult to predict. At night it is generally cold and the days are generally warm. The temperature could be as high as 30 degree Celsius to minus 15 degree Celsius low.

Depending on nature of travel we provide different vehicle service. we provide tourist vehicles for sightseeing, city tours and airport pickups-drops. We provide tourist bus transfer service from Kathmandu-Pokhara-Kathmandu. We book flight ticket through Simrik air, Buddha Air, Yeti air for the flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and vice versa.

There are landline telephone in some village along the trekking routes from which you can contact with your family and friends. Some place there is also internet access which you can use by paying some charges. Also you can buy sim card for your cell phone by giving your Xerox copy of your passport and PP size photo.

In the cities, off course yes but once you are outside of the cities, all you have to pay in cash. Also you have exchange the currency in Nepali rupees before you go outside the cities.

Yes, charging facilities will be available in every guesthouse & lodges but sometime there maybe load shedding problem so it’s better to bring power bank or spare batteries.

There are many restaurants available in Kathmandu and Pokhara city where you can find any delight of your choice. But in trekking route most teahouses. On the menu you may find noodles soup, steam mo:mo, daal bhat, green salad, finger chips, eggs, potatoes, fresh vegetables. You can get tea, coffee, hot lemon, hot chocolate. Every day breakfast, lunch, dinner will be at a lodge.

Lodges mostly serve the vegetarian meals so there is no problem at all for vegetarian. Also we always recommend our clients to eat vegetarian meals to avoid food poisoning. Non-veg meals at the high altitude are not safe for the stomach.

Hot water in bucket will be provided for shower and you have to pay for hot water.

Yes, they have received training from NATHM (Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management).They have also received high altitude first aid training from KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project).

Actually tipping is not compulsory, but small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters. The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvement with your guide.
