Everest Base Camp Motorbike Tour via Tibet- 11 Days

11 days Everest Base Camp Motorbike tour is ultimate adventure of your lifetime experience which starts from capital city Kathmandu riding via the mysterious jungle of Langtang National Park and through remote areas of Nuwakot, Rasuwagadi and Dhunche reaches Kerung Tibetan town. Our adventure motorbike tour offers the amazing landscapes, incredible mountain views and beautiful villages of Tibet. After acclimatization in Kerung we resume our ride to reach Tingri through beautiful Tibetan plateau and passing about 5,000 meters pass. Journey provides chance to experience the unique culture and food of Tibet. 

Our 3rd day ride takes nearly Mt. Everest, next day after reaching ancient Rongbuk monastery we will ride back to Kathmandu by same way.

Note: According to Tibet travel policy in the month of March international visitors are not allowed to visit Tibet so we would like to request you to manage your schedule accordingly.

Best Time to Go

Autumn and spring are the most favorable season to go for Tibet tour. The climate is pleasant and the views are awesome. Winter season (December-February) is not recommended to go for this tour. 

Tibet Visa Information

You have to stay in Kathmandu for at least 3 days to get the Tibet visa. We need a single passport size photo and original passport to apply for the Tibet visa. At least a month ago send us scan copy of your driving license and passport for Tibet travel permit, self drive permit and other necessary formalities.

Motorbike Hire

Although many choices to hire a bike in Kathmandu, Honda  CRF, Royal Enfield classic 500cc and Royal Enfield Himalayan 411cc is the optional one for our tour, which are very comfortable to ride in high altitudes and powerful too. 

Following documents are needed at least 45 days prior your trip to procedure Tibet visa and permits.

  • Scan copy of your passport with at least 6 months of validity.
  • Scan copy of your passport size photo.
  • Scan copy of valid driving license.
  • Scan copy of Bluebook of the motorbike with five empty pages (No need if you are hiring from us).
  • Clear photo of the motorbike with front and back number. (No need if you are hiring from us).
  • Original passport upon arrival in Kathmandu.
  • Custom deposit payment slip or any other documents provided by Nepal custom office while entering in Nepal from India by land (need for those who uses Nepal-India border to enter in Nepalwith their own bike)

Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival at Tribhuwan-International airport (Kathmandu).

Our company representative will meets you in Kathmandu airport and transfer to pre booked hotel. After short refreshment in hotel, evening time our company representative will brief about your trip. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis. 

Day 2 : Kathmandu sightseeing tour and preparation of Tibet visa.

At least 3 working days needed to get Tibet visa from embassy of China in Nepal. Today we apply at 1st hour and get final visa on 3rd day early hour so that we can start our tour same day from Kathmandu. Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley visit UNESCO world heritage sites by private car/jeep with a professional English speaking guide. Specially visit Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupathinath and Boudhanath Stupa. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.

Day 3 : Half day Kathmandu sightseeing and trip preparation day.

Today, you will visit ancient UNESCO heritage site Bhaktapur Durbar Square and rest of the time you can have shopping personal riding gears. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included. 

Day 4 : Motorbike Ride from Kathmandu to Shyabrubensi 1140 meters.

Riding hours: 7/8 hours – 125 km  
Today after getting our visa from Chinese embassy, we will start our motorbike ride to Shyabrubensi. We will ride to the Prithivi highway and take left to reach the Kerung border. We will ride through Langtang National Park and through remote areas of Rasuwagadi, Nuwakot and Dhunche. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included. 

Day 5 : Motorbike Ride from Shyabrubensi to Kerung 2750 meters.

Riding hours: 3 hours – 42 km 
Today we will ride around 18 km to reach Nepal and Tibet border. After finishing needful border formalities we will drive 24 km to reach Kerung from the border. We will explore local area of Kerung and acclimatize for tomorrow. 
Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.

Day 6 : Motorbike Ride from Kerung to Tingri 4300 meters.

Riding hours: 5 hours 244 km. 
Today, we will ride uphill enjoying beautiful Tibetan landscapes. We will ride highest elevation of the world from where we can enjoy breathtaking views of beautiful mountains range including Xishapagma (8012m), Cho Oyu (8201m) and off course top of the world Mt. Everest (8,848m). Overnight at hotel, breakfast included. 

Day 7 : Motorbike Ride from Tingri to Ronbuk 4980 meters.

Riding hours: 4 hours - 90 km. 
Today we will cross Gawu La Pass at elevation of 5,198 meters and reach Ronbuk through Tibetan countryside. We will enjoy exploring Ronbuk Monastery which is also known as highest monastery in the world and enjoy mesmerizing views of Mount Everest. (Before 4 km of Ronbuk the government of china does not allow anybody to enter vehicles, therefore we will take electric bus which is available in every half an hour. We will enjoy close view of Mount Everest. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included. 

Day 8 : Enjoy great time in Ronbuk and ride back to Tingri.

Riding hours: 2 hours – 90 km. We will enjoy breakfast with incredible views of Mount Everest and other snow capped peaks, Also we will visit ancient Ronbuk monastery which is also highest located monastery in the world. It is very short ride so we can spend time making photo and video.  Overnight at hotel, breakfast included. 

 

Day 9 : Motorbike Ride from Tingri to Kerung.

Ride hours: 6/7 hours – 244 km. 
We will Ride back to Kerung by same road with scenic views of mountain, lakes and Tibetan landscapes. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included. 

Day 10 : Motorbike Ride from Kerung to Kathmandu.

Ride hours: 6/7 hours – 165 km. 
We will Ride back to Tibet immigration and after needful immigration formalities we will ride to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included. 

Day 11 : Transfer to airport for final departure.

Our company representatives will transfer you to airport by private vehicle for your final departure.

Will somebody come to pick me up at the airport in Kathmandu?

Off course yes, our company representative will be there to greet you. He will be displaying your name outside the airport terminal. You will be transferred to your pre booked hotel by our private vehicle.

What is the Physical requirement for Everest Motorbike tour via Tibet?

This trip is designed for daring travelers who are physically fit and have good skills for riding motorbike in rough terrain. 

Does I Need Driving license to ride in Tibet highway?

Off course, you should have valid driving license. We need scan copy of your diving license to issue temporary driving license to drive in Tibet.

Do I need any previous experience?

No you don’t need any previous experience but make sure that you can ride motorbike 6-7 hours a day and can ride in rough terrain and cold weather.

What currency do I have to use in Tibet?

You should have Chinese Yuan or you can exchange all the foreign currencies in Tibet, please remember all the banks in Tibet are remain close on Saturday and Sunday.
